Holocene is the fuses the two at-odds worlds of grunge and jazz into a new melancholy. Influenced by the rock records which lead singer Sian listened to as a kid; PJ Harvey, Nirvana and Soundgarden to name a few, Holocene's music pays homage to the artists she loves, and spins it into a new web of dark pop/rock. Obsessed with fuzzy bass lines and distorted guitars, Holocene pairs this with her soulful deep voice. Holocene's music celebrates the lower resonances of the female voice, with spine tinglingly dark lyricism starkly set against a background of growling guitars and drums.
Off the back of a sold-out tour opening for the iconic British rock legends Skunk Anansie, Holocene is only at the beginning of her journey. Holocene are currently in the studio writing and recording their new records, for which you can keep updated by following their process on their socials here.
